Absolutely love my SRT 495 side con “Chillyboat”!

Solid as and super stable… and so much storage in the transom and under the optional high cast deck (put all my gear in it with room to spare – buckets, tackle bags, safety bag, batteries, nets, hats, cushions… and still room for the kids to hide in it!).

I love that I can use the same boat to tackle the conditions here in Moreton Bay (when it blows up and smaller boats are crawling home I just punch it!) and then still get up on shallow sand flats and skinny water chasing Flathead & the like.

There’s plenty of room in it too. Other brands were a lot smaller on the inside. The deep sides ticked a big box for their mum when it came to the kids.

“I’ve owned my 5.5m centre Tomahawk Offshore centre console for two years now. I’m still as thrilled about fishing from it as I was when I first bought it. It’s stable and comfortable riding. I mostly fish on my own but it fishes well with a crowd. It’s easy to handle on my own, I’m 65 so not as agile as I was. It is powered by a Suzuki 140 hp. It does 30 kts at full noise but cruises easily and comfortably at 20. I’m constantly approached at the ramp with requests to have a look and questions about the boat, motor and trailer. “I purchased a Formosa 580 hardtop walk around in 2018. I reviewed about 22 different species of boat before making my final decision. It was a really tough month of boat trialling mostly out of Brisbane and Sydney. I am 61 years old so this was going to be my last boat as I am retired and looking to relocate to Cardwell Far North Queensland. I have owned about 17 vessels in my time of various makes and materials. I never thought a plate boat could give me the comfort of a glass boat but the Formosa has done all of that and more. The conditions here are interesting with wind and chop changing very quickly over the day with a coastal sea breeze often making things a bit more sloppy on the homeward trip. The Formosa hull has performed faultlessly on all our return trips including a number of days where the wind has reached 25 knots. My partner Shann is a relative novice on the ocean but has felt unbelievably safe on all our trips, this is so important. “Hi guys, finally got some time to let you know how my 5.8 Searod centre cab is going. Well it’s great. We launch from the beach here in northern nsw and this boat handles it with ease. I find the ride from the V2 hull is excellent in most sea conditions. My problem is, that it’s such a pleasure to drive and fish from, I’m having trouble finding time to go to work.
